“1001 Nights. Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Aladdin's Magic Lamp”
(“1001 de nopti. Ali Baba și cei patruzeci de hoți. Lampa magică a lui Aladin”)
ARC, Chisinau, 2015
Working on this book was incredibly engaging; the process was both easy and captivating! This book was particularly significant for me because, after studying and working in Ukraine, I returned to Moldova and began working at a Moldovan publishing house. The foundation of my education was laid here in Chișinău—starting at the age of 5, I attended an art studio, then an art school, and later an art college.
This was the first book in my career where the characters were people. Previously, all my books were about animals. It was fascinating to illustrate a book I had read in my childhood. Collaborating with the publishing house was a very pleasant experience, light and almost ethereal. I discovered that I greatly enjoy Eastern themes, their atmosphere, vibrant colors, and decorative elements. I would be delighted to illustrate another book of this kind.
The illustrations were created using watercolor on paper.
